This course is designed to inspire you to take action and make a difference in the field of infant and toddler oral growth and development.

Day 1: Instructional Overview - Unraveling the Complexities of Infant and Toddler Oral Development

The first day is dedicated to deepening your understanding of infant and toddler oral development. We'll explore various factors influencing oral health, including:

  • breastfeeding & bottle feeding and non-nutritive sucking
  • torticollis & plagiocephaly connected to movement and posture
  • tethered oral tissues
  • microbiome & gastrointestinal considerations
  • toddler growth, respiration, & sleep.

Our expert instructor will guide you through each topic, providing a comprehensive theoretical foundation that will empower you to make informed decisions in your practice.

Day 2: Interactive Workshop - From Knowledge to Action

The second day transitions from learning to doing, with an interactive workshop featuring small group activities. You'll apply the knowledge gained on the first day to develop a practical checklist for infants and toddlers for milestone visits in a healthcare setting.

This checklist will cover critical screening areas such as

  • breathing. oral rest posture & oral and dental development
  • nutrition
  • posture and movement
  • sleep
  • By the end of the day, you'll not only have a ready-to-use tool but also the confidence to implement it effectively in your practice. We will be reviewing how to use the information gathered from this system to tailor both myofunctional interventions that we can introduce and work with parents as a team as well as knowing when to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.

This course goes beyond teaching; it inspires action and fosters a proactive approach to oral health care. Our ultimate goal is to equip you with the knowledge and tools necessary to intervene early, ensuring optimal oral health outcomes for infants and toddlers. Together, we can make a significant impact on the health & wellbeing of our youngest patients and improve the oral health landscape for them.
